Ways to grow in our world around us
We believe children are our community's most valuable asset. By teaching our children the importance of giving to others, and allowing them the opportunity to experience it first-hand, a strong foundation of values, respect and accountability is instilled.
Some of the many activities we participate in, both in our back yard as well as the community at large, are visits to our local nursing homes to sing Christmas carols and offer handmade rosaries to join in prayer. Prayers and Squares, a quilting ministry, works with our 5th graders to tie quilts that are then blessed and given to those who are ill. We collect food during Advent for our local food pantry, and fill shoeboxes to be sent overseas to those who are in need at Christmas. We pack all the fixings for a birthday celebration (cake mix, frosting, balloons, candles) into a gift bag, complete with a hand made card for our local food bank to disperse to area families in need. We collect children's pajamas for charity, raise funds for St. Jude, and offer monetary collections to a variety of charities near and far. Operation Rice Bowl gives us a chance to reflect and offer alms globally during Lent. Our yearly walk-a-thon gives the children a chance for exercise, fellowship and to raise funds for a good cause. St. Mary Our Mother School is always looking to the future of our world as we raise children to be strong leaders and healers in a world that is ever changing.
